- Listening for gist and detail in authentic spoken Spanish
- Reading and interpreting texts (articles, adverts, emails, literary extracts)
- Writing structured responses: descriptions, opinions, arguments, and narratives
- Speaking confidently in role-plays, discussions, and presentations
- Using grammar accurately: tenses (present, past, future), agreements, and sentence structure
Assessment
- Paper 1: Listening — 25%
- Comprehension of spoken Spanish in a variety of contexts
- Paper 2: Reading and Writing — 50%
- Reading comprehension and written tasks (short and extended responses)
- Paper 3: Speaking — 25%
- Conducted by a teacher and externally assessed; includes role-play, picture-based discussion, and conversation on chosen topics
All assessments are taken at the end of Year 11. There is no coursework.
