Capital School is looking to appoint a Secondary Maths Teacher to start in August 2025.

The Capital School Bahrain is based on a classic British School set-up that offers a classroom structure with key stages of development. We teach the British National Curriculum including Early Years' Foundation Stage, whilst adhering to the requirements of the Bahrain Ministry of Education for Arabic, Islamic, and Social Studies. Key Responsibilities:
The Secondary Maths Teacher is accountable to the Head of Maths for delivering high-quality mathematics education that inspires student engagement and achievement. The teacher will have the following responsibilities:

• Plan, deliver, and assess engaging and differentiated mathematics lessons that cater to the diverse abilities and needs of students across Key Stage 3 and 4.
• Incorporate a variety of teaching methods and resources, including digital tools, to enhance student learning and engagement.
• Maintain high academic standards and ensure that all students are supported in achieving their full potential.
• Foster a classroom environment that encourages mathematical inquiry, problem-solving, and critical thinking.
• Regularly assess student progress through formal and informal methods, providing constructive and timely feedback.
• Work closely with the Head of Mathematics and other maths teachers to ensure consistency and progression within the mathematics department.
• Contribute to the ongoing review and development of the mathematics curriculum to ensure that it remains relevant, challenging, and inspiring for all students.
• Actively encourage and support students in becoming independent learners who take ownership of their mathematical journey.
• Set clear academic and behavioral expectations, monitoring student progress and intervening where necessary to support individual achievement.
• Support the integration of technology into the mathematics curriculum to enhance student learning.
• Participate in relevant professional development opportunities and collaborate with colleagues to enhance the quality of teaching across the school.
• Contribute to the school’s pastoral system by fostering positive relationships with students, contributing to their overall development.
• Contribute to the wider school community by participating in extracurricular activities, mathematics-related events, and school trips.
• Maintain accurate records of student progress and communicate effectively with parents, guardians, and the Head of Mathematics.
• Act in accordance with the school’s safeguarding policies and procedures, ensuring that the safety and wellbeing of students is prioritized at all times.
• Assist with the administration of external examinations related to mathematics, including preparation and supervision.
• Contribute to the school's mission by taking on additional responsibilities as required by the Head of Maths or Senior Leadership Team.

Person specification:

We are looking for a reflective practitioner who:

• Experienced in teaching mathematics at secondary school level, with a strong understanding of mathematical concepts, theories, and practices.
• A degree in Maths or a related subject.
• A recognized teaching qualification (e.g., PGCE, QTS).
• Previous teaching experience in secondary education, particularly in mathematics (preferred).
• Strong understanding of the current mathematics curriculum and assessment methods.
• Passion for teaching and inspiring students to achieve their potential.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
