Course Overview

All Arabic 'A' students will study Arabic as a MOE qualification to meet national requirements. In addition, parents and students may opt to take the Pearson Edexcel International GCSE Arabic (First Language) for an internationally recognized qualification.

This iGCSE course is designed for students whose first language is Arabic. It develops advanced reading and writing skills, focusing on comprehension, composition, and linguistic accuracy. Students explore a variety of texts and practice formal and creative writing in Modern Standard Arabic.

Course Content

  • Reading: Understanding and interpreting a range of authentic Arabic texts, identifying main ideas, tone, and purpose.
  • Writing: Producing structured, accurate, and fluent Arabic in different styles, including formal letters, reports, and creative compositions.
  • Emphasis on vocabulary development, grammar accuracy, and stylistic control.

Assessment

Assessment Structure (International GCSE)

  • Paper 1: Reading and Writing — 2 hours, 70%
  • Paper 2: Writing — 1 hour, 30%

There is no coursework component; assessment is through final written exams.
