Meet The Team
Capital School is a British School Overseas, so our staff body reflects this. Our teaching staff, most of whom are native English speakers, are highly qualified with wide-ranging knowledge of the British education system. They are committed to delivering the best possible educational experience for every child, with continued professional development being a priority.
Support staff are chosen for their dedication, experience and qualifications — whether directly supporting pupils in the classroom or as part of the general operations team. Where possible, we also employ local staff to emphasise the importance of Bahraini culture as a foundation of our British school ethos.
All staff are a valued part of the Capital School family — formed by our pupils, their families, staff and external partners.
Principal
"Education is not only the learning that takes place in the classroom. It's about widening your knowledge of the world, society and culture we live in."
I am proud to be the Principal of this amazing school in Bahrain. I come with a wealth of expert background knowledge having taught and led in schools across the UK since 1999. I started teaching Maths in Portsmouth before taking on different leadership roles across a number of schools. During the last 15 years I have worked at a senior level, overseeing curriculum development, assessment, behaviour, and rewards and sanctions.
I achieved my National Professional Qualification of Headship in 2021, upon which I took on the leadership of a school in Portsmouth before focusing my efforts on moving my family overseas. I moved to Bahrain in August 2024 with my wife and three children, one of whom currently attends Capital School. Outside of school, I enjoy being active — recently completing a half-ironman event — and am part of a local cycle and running group.
Section Heads
"Great secondary schools are built on clarity, consistency and strong relationships."
I bring over twenty years of senior leadership experience in UK and international education. My most recent role was Head of Secondary in Oman. Prior to that, I led one of the highest-performing state schools in Manchester, securing its strongest outcomes in five years through disciplined curriculum thinking and sustained investment in staff development.
I believe academic success is never accidental. It comes from a coherent curriculum, expert teaching and adults who take collective responsibility for standards. When expectations are high and consistently applied, young people rise to them.
Alongside my school leadership roles, I have worked with an educational foundation supporting schools to strengthen leadership and improve outcomes. That experience reinforced my belief that lasting improvement depends on culture, professional trust and a clear sense of purpose.
The strongest schools are academically rigorous and relationally strong. Throughout my career, I have placed great importance on working closely with families, recognising the central role parents play in shaping character, values and aspiration. I look forward to building strong, respectful relationships with families at Capital School, grounded in clear communication, mutual trust and a shared commitment to every child’s success.
Outside of school, I write creatively and read widely. I am drawn to the sea and surf whenever I can, and I keep fit through regular training, dipping in and out of disciplines from CrossFit to yoga and martial arts. Music has always mattered to me, from classical to electronic. Curiosity and discipline shape both my leadership and my life.
"Education is the key to unlocking the world. It is the passport to freedom."
I feel extremely privileged to be part of the Senior Leadership Team here at Capital School. I have extensive experience in Primary Leadership which has seen me take on a range of different roles: Safeguarding, Behaviour and Attitudes Lead; Curriculum Development Lead; and most recent being Head of a large junior school in England.
My educational ethos is one which has children at its heart. Every decision is made to improve children’s educational experience and life chances. I have extremely high expectations of myself and of those around me, and as such I ensure everyone strives to be the best they can: adults and children. I joined Capital School in August 2024 with my wife and two children. Both my children attend the school, and my wife teaches in Year 6. Away from school, I have been enjoying exploring Bahrain’s rich history and spending time with my family.
