Capital School is seeking a qualified and talented High School science teachers to actively engage our pupils in meaningful and relevant learning. We are looking for teachers who are deeply committed to challenging and supporting pupils to excel academically and socially - teachers who are passionate about teaching and compassionate with pupils. The ability to work collaboratively with colleagues is essential as we work together continuously to educate our pupils and improve our curriculum and pedagogical practice.
Role and Responsibilities:
- Establishment of a learning culture within the classroom where children are positively supported and encouraged to do well in a climate of equal opportunity and security
- Ensure the Health & Safety and wellbeing of pupils in the classroom and elsewhere by assessing risks in planned and day-to-day activities and reducing any risks to an acceptable level.
- identifying clear teaching objectives and specifying how they will be taught and assessed;
- setting tasks which challenge pupils and ensure high levels of interest;
- setting appropriate and demanding expectations;
- providing clear structures for lessons maintaining pace, motivation and challenge;
- making effective use of assessment and ensure coverage of programmes of study;
- ensuring effective teaching and best use of available time;
- ensuring pupils acquire and consolidate knowledge, skills and understanding appropriate to the subject taught;
- mark and monitor pupils' work in line with the secondary marking policy and set targets for progress;
- assess and record pupils' progress systematically and keep records to check work is understood and completed, monitor strengths and weaknesses, inform planning and recognise the level at which the pupil is achieving;
Requirements:
- Holds a relevant degree, PGCE or BEd or the equivalent with UK QTS.
- Experience specialist scinece teacher using the English National Curriculum at Secondary level including IGCSE and A level.
